Souf rugs trace their origins to central Persia, especially the weaving center of Kashan, from the late 19th to early 20th centuries. These rare luxury carpets use a unique hybrid technique: a flat-woven base with raised pile motifs for a three-dimensional, embossed effect, often in fine silk or wool with intricate floral, medallion, or pictorial designs. Prized for their textured elegance and light-catching highlights, they represent a sophisticated evolution in Persian rug craftsmanship.
